Today is Election Day for the 2026 Texas primaries. Polls are open from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. New state legislation has allowed Texas public schools to implement a designated prayer period. Election Day is here, with 17 proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot — and for the first time in more than a decade, Lubbock County voters won’t see any local measures to decide on. With the federal government shutdown now in its second month, Houston Public Media’s Andrew Schneider reports many of those veterans are struggling to get the health care to which their service entitles them. Voters approved Proposition A on Saturday — a $290 million bond for Lubbock ISD that will fund critical infrastructure improvements, including new campuses, safety upgrades, and enhanced learning environments. Our reporter Bishop Van Buren visited the polls and spoke with voters about the decision. Residents of Roosevelt ISD in eastern Lubbock County also approved a $58.5 million bond package, to help to build a brand-new elementary school campus in the district.

Lubbock voters passed Proposition A on Saturday, approving a $290 million bond for Lubbock ISD. The measure will fund major infrastructure projects, including three new elementary schools, two middle schools, campus safety upgrades, and enhanced classroom environments.
