Internships

Internships are currently open.

KTTZ interns work closely with reporters, operations, and production team members in a supportive and collaborative environment. They will gain experience with professional studio equipment, visual and audio storytelling, and content management and coordination.

Whether it be journalism, production, videography, or digital media, KTTZ is dedicated to providing media opportunities to students of all experience levels, majors, and institutions.

Internships are typically a semester long, with the potential to extend beyond that. Most accredited internships require a full semester with the organization. Students may start on a volunteer basis and transition to a credit-based position if approved by their advisor.

On the application, you will find different areas of interest. Here are some of the responsibilities that typically fall within those areas.

Journalism: Write for the radio and online, research and schedule interviews, and use professional equipment in recording, editing, and photography. Attend news planning meetings, pitch stories, and work on special projects as assigned. Most successful internships result in several online and on-air bylines on 89.1 FM.

Production: Gain experience with professional studio equipment, operations processes, and voice over work. Produce on-air promos and segues for the station.

Videography: Capture and edit video content that supports KTTZ’s news and promotional efforts. Gain hands-on experience in field and studio production, learning professional standards for lighting, framing, audio, and editing.

Digital/Social Media: Learn to navigate content management systems, social media management, photography, and graphic design. Attend planning, production, pitch, and marketing meetings to gain hands-on experience in coordinating and creating promotional content.
