Tech hosts American History Camp

The Museum of Texas Tech hosts the American History Camp Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Cynthia Buster, a general education intern at Tech, said it is a great way to be involved in the community, and give parents a break.

“It’s educational for the kids, to retain what they have been learning and gives them a chance to come back to school in the fall and wow some teachers,” Buster said.

Buster said they have creative arts and crafts to teach young children about American history.

Buster said history is her passion, and she gets excited when children light up and understand what she is teaching.

“I have a huge passion for history,” Buster said. “That is the whole reason why I got into education.”

Next week starting July 17 and running until July 19 the museum is hosting the Baskets to Bison - Native American Summer Camp at the Museum of Texas Tech. The camp starts at 10 in the morning and ends at noon.

Children will cover basic weaving, pottery and storytelling. Contact the Museum’s education division at 806-742-2432, or email to museum.education@ttu.edu.
