John Sprott

Singer, songwriter, musician John Sprott has been a mainstay in the West Texas music community for decades. He was lead guitarist for celebrated local rock legends “The Nelsons” in the 1980’s. The group appeared on MTV network show “The Basement Tapes,” performed on Farm Aid Concert and traveled the country opening for well-known rock acts such as Billy Idol and others. His relentless schedule as a solo artist has earned him the title as one of the hardest workers in West Texas music.

His current group, “The John Sprott Blues Band,” has a new album titled “That’s Where it all Went Wrong” and were finalist in the 2022 International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee.

Cary is a professional musician, songwriter, music educator and author. As a member of the Maines Brothers Band, he was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in Lubbock Texas. As a songwriter, his songs have been recorded by The Maines Brothers Band, Jerry Jordan, Cheyenne Ward, Jeremy Crady, Floyd Brown and many others. As an author, “Almost Like a Professional - My life and career as a West Texas Musician” is an International Award-winning autographical book.
