KTTZ Funding
With cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting earlier this year, October is the first month KTTZ has had to go without federal funding. That means we are relying on listener donations more than ever.
Federal funding made up 35% of the budget for Texas Tech Public Media. It went towards programming and broadcast operations of our radio and television stations.
While this puts us in a moment of flux, we are working through it, committed to providing our listeners with innovative and inspiring programs and working to maintain the shows they love.
Public media in West Texas is not going anywhere.
Thank you to those who have reached out, completed our community response survey, and given us your input and support to move forward.
Our radio team has been in working with NPR to reduce programming costs in the short-term while we look at changes that might need to be made down the line to save money.
We also have new programs coming to KTTZ from PRX and American Public Media.
Our goal is always to bring you coverage that is relevant to our communities. We've been further developing regional collaborations, our partnership with the Texas Newsroom, and expect some new Texas-centric shows coming soon.
To keep us on the air and continue programming you want to hear, we need support. You can make donations and check out thank you gifts at donate.kttz.org. And if you already donate, increasing your donation at kttz.org/donate is a great way to help us close this funding gap.
Thank you!
