Andrews Air Force Base on lockdown due to report of active shooter

The Washington landscape featuring the Potomac River (L), the Washington Monument (C) and the U.S. Capitol Building (center R) is shown in this aerial picture aboard Air Force One after takeoff from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland in 2010.

Joint Base Andrews is currently on lockdown, following a report of an active shooter, the base said on Twitter.

On its official Twitter account, the base ordered all personnel to shelter in place.

On Facebook, a post said the incident was ongoing at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility, which is on the base. “First responders are on-scene now,” the post said.

Andrews Air Force Base is located in Prince George’s County in Maryland. It’s also the home of Air Force One.

This is a developing story. PBS NewsHour will update the report as more details become available.
