Texas Tech University was recognized by Diverse Issues in Higher Education Magazine as one of the nation's top 50 producers of Hispanic baccalaureate recipients.

The magazine takes into consideration access and opportunity in higher education for all. Its mission is to build educational, cultural, social and economic structures to allow individuals to reach their full potential.

Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Dr. Juan Munoz said this award speaks volumes for Tech.

"We are creating a culture here at Tech, because of our culture, our sensitivity, our commitment to students and their families and our affordability," he said.

Tech was also selected to participate in the 2013 Hispanic College Quiz Bowl show this September. Angela Barrera, senior public relations major, will represent Tech at the event.

"This provides a model other students may want to emulate," Interim Provost and Senior Vice President, Dr. Lawrence Schovanec said.

Paulina Veloz, graduate assistant at Tech, said, Tech has opened many doors for her.

"Tech has given me employment opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and opportunities to serve roles in student organizations," she said.
