Saturday was election day in the Lubbock City Council District 4 runoff and Tim Green will be taking the office.
Outgoing representative Brayden Rose announced his resignation for personal reasons in March.
In the initial election, on June 27, more than 2,6000 District 4 residents cast a ballot. Tim Green received 47% of the vote and Gary Boren took 38%. Since neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a runoff was triggered.
Turnout for the runoff surpassed the original special election with nearly 3,100 voters, an 8.73% voter turnout.
Green beat out his opponent Gary Boren with almost 61% of votes, according to unofficial results.
After being sworn into office, Green will serve out the remainder of Rose’s unfinished term until 2028.
