Tonight, Lubbock’s city council is holding a special city council meeting to discuss the city's budget. This includes agreements with the police and fire departments and public hearings on the tax rate and operating budget. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Citizens Tower downtown at 1314 Ave K. State broadband leaders are still waiting for instructions on how they can use $21 billion in federal money to connect rural areas to the internet, including around $2 billion in Texas.
