TTU School of Music presents SOUND OF LUBBOCK on Thursday

Texas Tech School of Music Presents:

“Sound of Lubbock” – Perform Out Loud!

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Music in collaboration with Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) invite all musicians in Lubbock, our students far and wide, and our neighbors to share in a moment of culture and burst into sound this Thursday, May 7 at 5:30 p.m. from our homes.

Observing social distance, join us from your yard, balcony, or favorite spot in your home and let us hear the sound of Lubbock, together apart! We welcome everyone to perform these four tracks:

  1. Handel’s Messiah piece “Hallelujah Chorus”
  2. "God Bless America"
  3. "All you need is love"
  4. “Heal the World”

We dedicate this performance to all of you through the shared Spirt of Music.
Lubbock has an important place in music history. We share our positive voices loud and far.

Some of us have certainly been hit hard, but we remain strong. We want to support, through the arts, our frontline responders and those who are struggling. We thank our healthcare and essential workers who selflessly work every day to save lives.

Join us!

HOW:

  • Please join us at 5:30pm (CDT) on the 7th of May to perform “out loud, outside and online!”
  • We have chosen four works, two which are well known and two that require click-tracks.
  • Sheet music and lyrics here: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/music/Sound_Of_Lubbock/soundoflubbock_media.php
  • Listen to KTTZ to the live broadcast and perform along.
  • Use headphones to hear the music and the click-track.  Then play your part—sing or dance or paint!
  • In all cases please VIDEO your performance. No need broadcast or the click-track—just your performance please.

Send those to us at: music.media@ttu.edu via WeTransfer.com

We will produce the "Sound of Lubbock" Virtual Ensemble Video for future broadcasting. Detailed instructions will be available on the TTU School of Music website and social media pages (after May 7, 2020).
