Join First United Methodist Church for this profound, reflective masterwork, Requiem Opus 9 by organist and composer Maurice Duruflé. The FUMC Chancel Choir, soloists and chamber orchestra present deeply moving music for All Saints Day. Dr. Seung-Won Cho, Director of Traditional Music Ministries and Senior Organist at FUMC joins The Front Row to tell us more about the concert.
You have a Vesper Concert coming up this Sunday afternoon, this is a long tradition here at the church of Vesper concerts and this is the first one for this year, tell us about it.
Actually, our first concert of the season was a special concert and tribute honoring Dr. Gordon McMillan last September and it was successful and well attended. Now this Sunday at FUMC Chancel Choir will be presenting Requiem Opus 9 by Maurice Duruflé for the All Saints Concert. Soloists include Terry Hawkins, mezzo and Jeremy Brown, baritone soloist who is a Texas Tech School of Music student, he is a junior and our own organist, David Warren. Duruflé’s Requiem conductor is basically the organist, so I’ll just give the choir a down beat and ending.
