Dr. Seung-Won Cho, Director of Traditional Music Ministries and Senior Organist, joins us on this episode of The Front Row.

Tell us about your upcoming concert series, the Vesper Concert Series.

It has been 40 years since we have started our Vesper Concert Series. We have presented world-class musicians to this community and it has been one of the foremost cultural outreach programs in the south plains area. So we are so blessed and grateful.

You have a very exciting series coming up, one is this weekend. Tell us about it.

Yes, that’s this Sunday, October 15 at 5 p.m., in the sanctuary. No admission fee. Childcare provided. St. Louis Brass Quintet is coming to our concert. They were founded in 1964 by members of the St. Louis Symphony. They started playing for their school concerts and the St. Louis area. They have performed more than three thousand concerts world-wide now.

Tease us about the other concerts lined up for this year.

For this year we have All Saints Concert in November, on November 5, Sunday evening at 5p.m.. Also in December, we have Clare College Concert for Christmas Concert.

Tell us about Clare College.

That’s a Christmas Concert in December. They have been one of our favorite Christmas ensembles as they have been here several times since 1987. This time is their eighth time appearing in Lubbock. It’s a privilege to have them here. It’s also the school that John Rutter graduated. Our favorite choir composers.

What is coming up this spring?

We have three more concerts in the spring. In February Anderson Jazz Trio is coming. They are graduates of Juilliard Conservatory in New York City. They are extraordinary jazz musicians and they are known for their unique renditions of classic jazz songs. They’ll be performing a wide variety of American tunes.

This is followed by an organ concert in April.

We conclude our concert series with a patriotic concert for the fourth of July.
