Curtis Peoples


Curtis Peoples, Ph.D., is an Archivist at the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library (SWC/SCL) at Texas Tech University (TTU).  Dr. Peoples has nineteen years of experience in archival work. During 2002, he established the Crossroads of Music Archive in the SWC/SCL, and is the archivist for the collection. He heads the Crossroads Recording Studio in the TTU Library. Further, he is a musician who has worked in the music business for four decades, numerous recording studios, and has been a production manager for many events. He is a graduate and former instructor of the Sound Technology program at South Plains College, and currently serves as chair of the SPC Sound Technology Advisory Board. He also serves as Chair of the Education and Training Committee for the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, as well as their Assistant Conference Manger. Dr. Peoples teaches the “History of West Texas Music” and “Texas Music History: Race, Class, and Gender” for the TTU Honors College. He also hosts the “Music Crossroads of Texas” radio show on KTTZ 89.1 FM. the His research centers on music and place.
