Texas Monthly

This week Curtis features the music of two West Texas super groups, the Flatlanders and The Panhandlers. The panhandlers are a newly formed quartet of Texas country artists Josh Abbott, Cleto Cordero, William Clark Green and John Baumann. The quartet released their self-titled debut album in March 2020. The Flatlanders, Joe Ely, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock formed in the early 1970s. The group’s first major recording project was in 1972 with famed producer and record executive Shelby Singleton. Listen in for more on these two West Texas super groups.
