Over the first week of August, the Lubbock City Council held its budget workshop sessions. That’s when the council reviews the city’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year. It’s a big task that takes months of preparation.

The presentations go over how the city is making money, how they’re spending it and what they project the next year to look like. This year, the workshop sessions also included a plan to send a new road bond package
to voters.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Government Reporter Alex Driggars reported on the workshop sessions. He joins us today to break down what he learned and what citizens should know.
