KTTZ Becomes The First Lubbock Studio With A 360-Degree Camera

Have you ever wondered how the crew behind 24 Frames were able to film their podcasts with the entire room in one take? Well, that's because KTTZ-TV is the first studio in Lubbock, Texas to acquire a 360-degree camera!

The teeny-tiny device is the Ricoh Theta S 360 Degree Spherical camera, and it's able to record high-resolution, spherical images and video in full HD!

Being the only studio in Lubbock to carry the 360-camera, the possibilities of creative projects for KTTZ are now endless! Production Director, Jonathan Seaborn, sees the camera as a way to expand the studio's reach with creative, interactive content.

"We wanted this camera to do virtual tours of the Texas Tech campus," Seaborn says, "while also being able to give people an interactive experience to live events that are covered by Texas Tech Public Media."

As of now, the 360-cam has been put to work filming the live recordings of the 24 Frames Podcast, but KTTZ has more upcoming projects planned for this year. Until then, check out a clip of the 360-degree camera in action during a taping of a 24 Frames Podcast.
