The legendary piano player, Doug Smith, has passed. In memoriam, KTTZ-TV will air his Amarillo concert, DOUG SMITH: THERE IT IS tonight at 7pm on channel 5!
The popular pianist, who was raised in Kermit and made his home near Petersburg for many years, was 52. Smith’s many concert sites had ranged from the Spencer Theater in New Mexico and Hotel Garza in Post to the Godbold Cultural Center and Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Prior to his accident, he spoke of wanting to perform much more outside West Texas.
Smith is survived by two sons, Dylan Smith and Todd Smith, both of Lubbock; his parents, Tommy and Linda Smith, of Kermit; and a sister, Tamra Schultz, of Midland.
