DVD Picks 05/08/2012

It's a really slow week for movies. I can hardly find anything here to recommend so I might just have to list some so this isn't a blank post.

Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie (2012)
dirs. Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim

I've heard this is pretty terrible, I have yet to see it but I may have to. Remember that one week four weeks ago where you went to work, had lunch, went home and read a book? NO? Yeah me neither, that's what this week will be like 4 weeks from now.

Product Description:
Two wacky, novice filmmakers receive a billion dollars to make a movie, only to squander every dime. Afraid for their lives, they attempt to revitalize a failing shopping mall to make the money back. Featuring cameos from some of the biggest names in comedy!

John Wayne Film Collection

It's the Duke and it has Red River, The Longest Day, and North to Alaska in it. It's going to be good, I guarantee it!

Product Description:
A Hollywood legend like no other, Academy Award Winner John Wayne remains a true American icon. On horseback in the wild west or in battle on the front lines, "Duke" stands tall as the silver screen's greatest hero. Gathered together here for the first time are ten of his most outstanding films, including: the 1960 Oscar Best Picture Nominee The Alamo and The Barbarian and the Geisha, available on DVD for the very first time.
The 10 films are: The Big Trail / Red River / Legend of the Lost/ The Barbarian and the Geisha / The Horse Soldiers / The Alamo / North to Alaska / The Comancheros / The Longest Day / The Undefeated

Underworld: Awakening (2012)
dir. Måns Mårlind

I've only seen the first one in this series, but it was at least entertaining. I bet the same could be said for this one. Any time you are watching Kate Beckinsale do anything it can't be that terrible, can it?

Product Description:
Ultimate Vampire Warrioress Selene (Kate Beckinsale) escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Man in the Glass: The Dale Brown Story (2010)
dir. Patrick Sheehan

This can't be too bad, I mean it has Shaq AND Matthew McConaughey in it. I mean it only came out two years ago and is just making it to DVD so it has to be... Who am I kidding. It's probably better than Courageous though!

Product Description:
Born on Halloween, 1935, Dale Brown's fight for justice began the day his father walked out - two days before he was born. With a cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, John Wooden, Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Brando, Dick Vitale, Dick Gregory and Don Yaeger, Man in the Glass: The Dale Brown Story is the fast-paced; must-own; documentary film about how an overachiever from tiny Minot, North Dakota relentlessly fought, scratched and clawed his way to the top. Hired by Louisiana State University in 1972 as head men's basketball coach, Dale's on-the-court success would quickly become overshadowed by his efforts off of the court. His de-segregation of the basketball program would ultimately lead to the complete integration of the school; his battles with the NCAA, which began in 1981 continue today and his weekly letters to a self-conscious struggling teenager helped to create the superstar the world has come to know simply as Shaq. Man in the Glass: The Dale Brown Story is the inspiring story of a truly unique man on a life-long quest to answer the question: How much can one man really do?
