Fact checking the debate: Clinton vs. Sanders on Wall Street

Apr 15, 2016

WASHINGTON — Her intent was to mar the voting record of her rival. But Hillary Clinton also cast aspersions on the presidential record of her husband Thursday night in testy exchanges with Bernie Sanders over Wall Street regulation.

A look at some of the claims in the latest Democratic presidential debate and how they compare with the facts:

CLINTON: “I’m the only one on this stage who did not vote to deregulate swaps and derivatives, as Sen. Sanders did … and that contributed to the collapse of Lehman Brothers and started the cascade.”

Texas Secretary of State Nandita Berry stopped at the Student Union Building to promote the vote as part of the VoteTexas college tour that is aiming to clear up confusion about new voter ID laws and encourage younger voters before the November election.

Berry, appointed by Rick Perry, is also stopping at other Texas campuses including Lubbock Christian University, UT-Arlington, UT-Pan American, Texas A&M University, Prairie View A&M University, Rice University, Lamar University, UT-Austin, Texas State University and Texas Southern University.
