Texas Tech Public Media is currently looking to fill the position of Business Manager.

Major/Essential Functions:

Maintain and update accurate records and reporting for Texas Tech Public Media related activities, including accounts payable review and coding, journal entry preparation, general ledger processing, and tracking and reporting of revenues and expenses. Create regular and periodic financial reports and records.

Ensure all financial reporting and forecasting complies with GAAP; works to ensure all necessary accruals related to each department are submitted properly, well documented, and booked in a timely manner each month.

Serve as lead accountant in the preparation and finalization of annual Texas Tech Public Media audit, conducted by external CPA firm. Serve as liaison to independent auditors of Texas Tech Public Media financial activity and assist other staff liaisons to independent auditors of Texas Tech Public Media activity.

Develops annual budget and monthly forecast in conjunction with the Managing Director and senior management team.

Provides overall fiscal management services to Texas Tech Public Media. This includes the design and maintenance of sound internal control procedures. Serves as the unit's human resources coordinator.

Position Description:

Manages personnel and budgetary matters for a department or college. Exercises discretion and independent judgment to oversee the activities of staff and the financial processes to ensure fiscal responsibility of department/college. Ensures staff and faculty have the resources to complete their work. Usually serves as a hiring manager and employee service coordinator.

Occasional Duties:

Creates all Purchase Orders and ensure they are sent to all vendors in a timely manner, including all terms and conditions. Ensure that the invoices comport with the contractual terms and are submitted to responsible manager for formal approval.

Provide customized analysis and reports to the Managing Director and Development Director in areas such as grants and projects covering the functional areas of membership, corporate development, planned giving and capital campaign activity, budget, revenue and expenditures. Work with the development director, marketing director, sales staff and membership database manager to accomplish these tasks.

Provide line managers with monthly analysis of actual spending v. Budget and Forecast (variance analyses) and solicit input for additional material changes to operating plans that need to be reflected in forecasting reports. Provides monthly summary-level variance analyses to Managing Director in a timely manner.

Ensures compliance with grant contracts, government contracts, and local, state and federal requirements as needed. Reports regularly to appropriate staff on the financial expenditure of all grants. Prepares final grant budget reports and ensure that all financial grant-reporting is accurate, complete and submitted on time.

Work with development staff to accept bequests and stock gifts, including communications with donors' representatives, completion of appropriate documentation, and depositing proceeds in appropriate accounts.

Liaison with other TTU departments and with outside groups, individuals and clients to facilitate communication, including following up on requests for information and resources and resolving administrative and financial misunderstandings.
