The Mom Lounge is now open at 4414 82nd St. #216.

It takes a village to raise a child, and ironically, The Village Shopping Center off 82nd Street and Quaker Avenue has a new place to meet other people and learn the ins and outs of parenting.

The Mom Lounge opened this week and is owned by Anna O’Steen and Mary McCabe.

O’Steen and McCabe had an idea for a place where moms can interact with other moms while taking classes and engaging with their babies.

An open floor plan with different play stations and sitting areas allow for moms and their babies to learn and grow together.

“We offer the core classes which are, like, music, baby signing, yoga, sensory play and story time, but the other side of it is our education classes for parents like a breastfeeding class, pelvic floor, pre/post-natal, birth basics,” McCabe said. “Honestly, anything a woman needs before a baby and after a baby and even in your 80s.”

In addition to classes, O’Steen said the Mom Lounge offers a place to form a community. Everyone, including dads, grandparents, and nannies, is welcome.

The business is tailored for kids up to 5 years old, but O’Steen said anyone around those ages can participate.

You can also rent out the space on Saturdays for birthdays, showers or other events.
